Event - Internet Safety Day

6 February 2018

Our school was lucky to have an assembly led by the children and supported by Mrs Dykes to kick off our internet safety day. We talked about social media age restrictions and how we should behave online.

The children talked about different scenarios and asked their peers if that was a good way to behave online.

Reception

Reception learnt all about internet Safety by hearing the story of Digi – Duck. They learnt all about being kind and staying safe online and how we need to follow rules online just like we do each day at school.

Year 1

In Year 1, we discussed how to stay safe online. We discussed the importance of staying safe online through the many portals of technology that we use to access the internet. We made internet safety poster’s and carried out role play trust activities, to highlight the importance of not always trusting that people are always who they say they are online.

Year 2

For internet safety day we completed a quiz to find out if we knew how to be safe online. We listened to a story about monsters and being kind to each other online. We said something nice to each other and passed the wool to show how a comment can be seen by many people online. This showed us how important it is to only say kind comments online. Then we thought of lots of ways to show kindness and created freeze frames.

Year 4

In Year 4, we discussed how to stay safe online. We discussed websites and apps that are unsuitable for children. We then designed leaflets to inform younger children about internet safety.

Year 5

In Year 5, we have been learning about how we can stay safe online. We discussed some key rules and then created E-Safety heroes to educate others about how to be safe online.

Year 6

Year 6 learning all about how to stay safe online by looking at different scenarios. We looked at rules in school and how these relate to rules online.
