We were delighted to welcome children from St John Bosco for our first competitive sporting event since before Covid. Our children looked smart in new kit and were very excited to get going. The afternoon included separate games for boys and girls in basketball and football, giving us a chance to showcase our new astroturf and basketball posts.
All games were closely contested and highly entertaining. Firstly, it was girls football, which our St Mark’s girls won 3-1. Our boys then went 2-0 down in their game before coming back to draw 2-2 and very nearly winning it in the dying seconds.
In the basketball, the girls game ebbed and flowed before ending in a 4-4 draw. Bosco missed a shot right at the final whistle to win it, although a draw was certainly a fair result. Finally, Bosco went 2-0 up in the boys basketball before we came back very strongly to win 8-2.
It was a brilliant afternoon, all played in the right spirit with smiles on faces and new friends made. We clearly have some talented sports stars in the making and we look forward to more sporting events throughout this academic year. Well done to all involved.
