Event - World Book Day

2 March 2017

The whole school celebrated World Book Day. We dressed up as characters for our next book and did lots of fun activities based on reading and our books

Reception looked at fairy tales and were faced with a police investigation when the homes of the three pigs were blown down in their outdoor area. They had to look for clues and complete incident reports and wanted posters to try and find the culprit – the Big Bad Wolf.

Year 1 had a fantastic day dressed as their favourite fairy tale characters! They spent the day exploring the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. The children made fantastic beanstalk art work and enjoyed role playing different characters from the story.

Year 2 children had a busy day. They spent the day making stars just like the boy found in our story. They also made their own wishes on stars. The children had a fantastic day!

Year 3 did lots of activities including role playing and picking apart the chapters in their book 'Stig of the Dump'. Their favourite part was dressing up as the characters and drawing Stig’s den using pastels.

Year 4 looked at 'How to train your dragon''. They did many wonderful activities including designing their own pet dragon and making a new front cover and blurb for the story using Microsoft Word. The children enjoyed dressing up as a character from the book.

Year 5 looked at the past. As they were reading Anne Frank’s Diary, they all came dressed in World War II clothing. During the morning, they edited and improved diary entries they had previously written. They also read extracts from Anne’s diary.

Year 6 have been learning all about William Shakespeare, so they got the opportunity to dress as any of Shakespeare’s characters. These included Macbeth and Lady Macbeth and the witches.
