On Sunday 12th March 2023, St. Mark’s celebrated another joyous Family Mass at Holy Name Church, Great Barr. It was a wonderful occasion whereby the children lead the readings, carried the offertory, participated in liturgy and performed a hymn (complete with actions) for the whole Parish.

“It was SO much fun, we sung our ‘Lighthouse’ song for the whole church, even the older people joined in!” Y4 child

“Watching the children sing and make the actions to Lighthouse at the end if mass was a breath of fresh air and of course allowed us to join in! It was a very nice addition to the family mass!” Y6 Parent

“Watching the children share their messages through the liturgy at the front was just lovely to watch!” Holy Name Church Parishioner

“I wanted to say what a beautiful family Mass we had yesterday at Holy Name. There was a lovely presence of our Catholic families, evident in the pews around me along with staff members of St. Mark’s who took the time out of their busy schedules, to attend and support the School and the pupils. The younger children were happy and skipped up the aisle to the children’s liturgy with both parish members and school staff. Pupils who read the readings and bidding prayers, were confident in their delivery and read well. The 4 pupils who participated in the offertory did so with great dignity and respect and with only little guidance from the Church Wardens. How confident were our pupils to answer Fathers questions after the Gospel? Wow, they really listened didn’t they!” St. Mark’s Chair of Governors
